Your adventure begins with a scenic 7-8-hour drive from Dehradun to Sankri. Meet at Prince Chowk in Dehradun at 6:00 AM. For those coming from Delhi, consider taking an overnight bus or train to reach Dehradun ISBT on time. As you travel approximately 220 km and ascend 1950 meters, you'll be treated to Uttarakhand's stunning landscapes. The route takes you through the charming towns of Mussoorie and Uttarkashi District, along with Naugaon, Purola, Mori, and Netwar. Keep an eye out for views of the Tons River and lush pine forests. The final stretch of 20 km to Sankri is particularly breathtaking as you pass through the Govind National Park checkpoint before arriving in the delightful Himalayan village around 6:00 PM. Sankri serves as a popular base camp for treks and offers spectacular views of Mt. Swargarohini. In winter, there’s even a chance to see snow. Once you arrive, you’ll settle into a cozy lodge where you can relax and rejuvenate. Take advantage of the afternoon to explore the lively local market, where you can find a variety of trekking supplies, equipment, and clothing. This is the perfect opportunity to gather any last-minute essentials before your adventure begins. As the day winds down, the serene surroundings of Sankri envelop you, fostering a peaceful anticipation for the exciting journey ahead.

On day two, we set off on our Adventure to Datmer / Taluka around 7-8 am. This one-hour-long drive takes us through increasingly dense forests, with streams trickling over boulders, providing a glimpse of the terrain we'll be trekking through. Upon arriving in Datmer /Taluka, another charming village along our route, trekkers will have the opportunity to enjoy some refreshments before we embark on the hike. Taluka is a small Himalayan community featuring a few concrete houses. The trek begins with a descent to the serene banks of the Tons River. Keeping the river to our right, we’ll traverse a level path through conifer forests until we reach the first cemented bridge about ten minutes into the walk. After crossing this bridge, we proceed to another wooden bridge just fifteen minutes later, where a gentle slope descends to the water. This is a perfect stop to refill your bottles. As we continue across the Tons River, vibrant beds of orchids can be spotted in the spring and summer, making this area a great spot for observing Himalayan wildlife. The entire route along the river offers ideal opportunities for photography and provides plenty of shade. Around noon, we’ll reach our lunch stop by the Supin tributary, where we crossed earlier. Perched on a rocky height above the stream, a food shack awaits—one of the many we’ll encounter on our trek. Here, you’ll find packaged snacks and beverages alongside delightful hot treats that, combined with our packed lunch, will add a special touch to our outdoor dining experience. As we move forward, we'll pass through lush harvest fields of potatoes, millet, and maize, giving the landscape an inviting ranch-like atmosphere. The stunning terraced farming of the Himalayan villages will surely take your breath away. In the late afternoon, as the sun begins to set, we will arrive at Pauni Garaat, a beautiful green expanse by the banks of the Supin—welcome to the first campsite of THE TRAVEL FOOT!

The Trek from Pauni Garaat to Kalkattiyadhar takes approx 8 km, 6 Hours Begin your trek early in the morning after breakfast, as you set off on a trek through lush coniferous forests that lead to Seema village. This quaint village, which consists of a few houses and a forest department guesthouse, is located along the banks of the Supin River. From Seema, you can see Osla village across the river. One of the highlights of this segment is the Seema hanging bridge, which provides breathtaking views of the river below and the majestic snow-capped mountains—perfect for capturing memorable photos. As you continue your trek, you will cross three garaats, which are hydroelectric units utilized by locals to grind millet and maize into flour. The trail winds through beautiful landscapes, featuring harvest fields, grazing cattle, and traditional slant-roofed storage huts. Along the way, you'll encounter Amaranth trees that display a vibrant reddish hue during the monsoon season, adding a splash of color to the surroundings. About thirty minutes into the trek, you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of Mt. Bandarpoonch and the Swargarohini peaks on the horizon. Arriving in Osla village adds another layer of intrigue to your adventure. This ancient village is steeped in mythology and is known for the locals' worship of Duryodhan from the Mahabharata. The Someshwar Temple, a remarkable wooden structure that is over 2,000 years old, is dedicated to Duryodhan. The friendly villagers, dressed in traditional attire, are happy to share their rich cultural heritage and stories. Interestingly, the village has a king who visits once a month to conduct the main pooja at the temple. As you leave Osla, the trail steepens, leading you to spectacular viewpoints of the Dhauladhar Range, with winding paths that take you toward Borasu Pass and Baspa Valley. After a rigorous climb, the trail opens up to Kalkattiyadhar, a breathtaking green meadow that will serve as your campsite for the night. This tabletop-like area offers panoramic views of Black Peak, Bugyal Devsu, the Ruinsara Range, and even the Kedarkantha Summit. Take this opportunity to relax, enjoy the tranquil beauty of your surroundings, and prepare for the ascent to the summit of Har Ki Dun Valley the next day.

Today we wake up to a beautiful morning our adventure commences at dawn, signaling the outset of the most challenging and extensive leg of our trek. After a hearty breakfast to energize us for the day ahead, we embark on our journey. While the views thus far have been remarkable, brace yourself for an even more breathtaking experience as we continue. The path leads us through picturesque valleys shaped by ancient glaciers, vibrant alpine meadows bursting with color, and winding trails bordered by majestic pine trees that stand tall and proud, creating a verdant corridor of natural splendor. We start our ascent from the confluence of the Supin River and the stream emerging from Ruinsara Valley. As we progress, the landscape transforms, unveiling stunning vistas of the mountains that surround us. Our route features a combination of steep climbs and gentle slopes, ultimately guiding us to the enchanting Har Ki Dun Valley. Along the way, we are greeted by patches of snow and frozen waterfalls, mesmerizing glimpses of winter's untouched beauty. Upon reaching the Har Ki Dun Valley, you enter a realm of natural wonder. This haven is characterized by a delightful fusion of lush meadows, icy streams, and dense forests, all set against a backdrop of soaring mountain peaks. As we wander through this tranquil landscape, the majestic silhouettes of Swargarohini, Hata Peak, and Black Peak loom over us, their formidable presence leaving a lasting impression. The final stretch of our trek is marked by an arduous ascent, with sections reaching a steep incline of 45 degrees, testing our physical limits to the maximum. While the blanket of snow may soften the rugged contours of the climb, it simultaneously adds to the challenge. We follow the winding path of the river, navigating through thickets of trees, which ultimately lead us to the magnificent summit of Har Ki Dun. At the summit, the vistas are nothing short of spellbinding. Swargarohini I, Hata Peak, and Black Peak dominate the skyline, their grandeur a testament to nature's artistry. Take a moment to absorb the beauty around you, create lasting memories, and fully immerse yourself in the tranquil atmosphere of this breathtaking locale. As we prepare to depart from the stunning scenery of the valley and the familiar surroundings of our previous campsite at Kalkattiyadhar, the unforgettable memories of our day remain etched in our minds, a testament to the wonders we've encountered on this remarkable journey.

When the morning mist lifts, the air is invigoratingly cool—a refreshing contrast to the serene mountain surroundings. Although mornings can be chilly, the calm beauty of this alpine landscape makes it worth embracing the cold. Take a moment to soak in the tranquility before starting your descent. The path from Kalkattiyadhar to Osla mirrors your earlier route, presenting familiar yet captivating vistas. The gentle downward slope allows for a relaxed pace, giving you the opportunity to appreciate the picturesque scenery around you. Along the way, you’ll pass through lush forests of pine and deodar, cross crystal-clear streams, and listen to the cheerful melodies of birds as you make your way into the valley. As you approach Osla, the rural landscape evolves into a vibrant community where fertile farmland, grazing animals, and charming village homes create a serene and inviting atmosphere. Here, you can explore this beautiful Himalayan settlement and fully immerse yourself in its peaceful environment. As you near Pauni Garaat in the evening, your campsite by the river provides a tranquil setting to unwind and contemplate your adventures. The final leg of the trek begins, taking you from Pauni Garaat to Taluka and bringing this remarkable mountain adventure to a close. Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the campsite, giving you the energy needed for the descent ahead. As you leave Pauni Garaat, the trail winds through lush woods adorned with pine and oak trees, accompanied by the soothing sounds of birds singing and leaves rustling. You’ll follow the same path as before, giving you a chance to appreciate the breathtaking scenery once more. Along the way, well-known rest stops beckon, inviting you to recharge, hydrate, and soak in the tranquility of your surroundings. Be mindful of “Bicchu Ghas,” or stinging nettle, which can inflict a painful sting lasting up to 25 minutes with even slight contact. Interestingly, locals have discovered how to incorporate this plant into their culinary practices, turning it into a nutritious delicacy. While navigating through the Himalayan landscape, take time to observe the diverse and unique plant life that surrounds you. As the journey progresses, the trail leads you to the peaceful banks of the Supin River, where the gentle sound of flowing water provides a serene soundtrack for your hike. The terrain shifts to a gradual downhill slope, offering a welcome change from the steeper climbs of earlier days. In the final stretch, the rugged dirt paths transition to a paved road, signaling the nearing end of the trek. The charming village of Taluka emerges, nestled amongst the rolling hills. A mixture of excitement and nostalgia fills you as the trek approaches its conclusion and the majestic mountains slowly recede from view. Once you arrive in Taluka, your trek officially concludes. A vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Sankri along the unpaved road, marking your transition from the remote wilderness to the comforts of urban life. During the drive, you can reflect on the paths and valleys you've traversed over the past days. Your adventure comes full circle as you return / Kotgaon to Sankri, where a warm welcome and a comforting cup of tea await. This charming village offers the perfect setting to relax and relive the memorable moments of your trek. Start your morning in Sankri with a light breakfast before embarking on the long drive ahead. The scenic 8-hour route will weave through dense forests, charming rural villages, and beautiful valleys, offering one last glimpse of the majestic Himalayan scenery that has been your companion throughout your trekking adventure. Along the way, you'll stop at a local restaurant for a simple yet satisfying breakfast, refueling your energy for the journey ahead. As you continue, the landscape transforms, revealing terraced farmlands and flowing rivers, providing ample opportunities for photos or moments of quiet reflection. After lunch, the journey continues as you descend towards Dehradun. The route features a mix of winding mountain roads and wider highways, leading you into the bustling capital of Uttarakhand. You’ll notice the gradual shift from the tranquil hills to the lively plains. Arrive at Dehradun Railway Station by 7:00 PM, giving you enough time to catch a late-night train or bus to Delhi. To account for any potential delays, it’s wise to plan your next departure from the Dehradun Bus Stand or station for 10:00 PM or later. As you wrap up your time in Dehradun, take a moment to reflect on the remarkable experiences you’ve gained. The serene landscapes, rugged trails, and breathtaking views will leave a lasting impression, ensuring that the memories of this trek remain with you for years to come.
