Day 01 :
Arrival in Paro (7218 FT.) – Gateway to the Land of the Thunder Dragon- Drive to Thimphu (7657 Ft.)

Your journey to Bhutan begins with a breathtaking flight over the Himalayas, offering spectacular views of towering peaks like Jumolhari and Jichu Drake. If you may even catch a glimpse of Mount Everest and Kanchenjunga, adding to the excitement of your arrival. The weather during the flight is usually clear, providing excellent visibility. Upon landing at Paro International Airport (7218 Ft.), a representative from The Travel Foot will extend a warm welcome and assist with immigration formalities before transferring you to your hotel. The weather in Paro is generally cool and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 10 °C to 20 °C, so be sure to pack accordingly.

In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Paro. Your first stop is the Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong), a magnificent 17th-century fortress that serves as both a monastic and administrative center. The dzong's striking white walls and intricately carved wooden balconies are a testament to Bhutanese craftsmanship. Just above the dzong, visit the National Museum of Bhutan, once a watchtower, now transformed into a treasure trove of ancient thangkas, religious relics, traditional costumes, and historical artifacts. Next, pay a visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan, built in the 7th century as part of an effort to subdue a demoness who was preventing the spread of Buddhism. The temple's peaceful atmosphere and sacred prayer wheels make it a perfect place for quiet reflection.

Later in the afternoon, embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu (7657), Bhutan's unique capital city. The journey covers a distance of 55 km, taking approximately 1.5 hours, with mesmerizing views of verdant valleys, terraced fields, and traditional villages along the way. Thimphu is a city where tradition and modernity coexist. It is famously known as the only capital in the world without traffic lights, where a policeman directs traffic with graceful hand gestures. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel and enjoy a leisurely evening exploring the lively streets of Thimphu, lined with craft shops, cozy cafés, and bustling markets. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Day 02 :
Day Excursion to Dochula Pass by drive approx 25 Kms 1 Hrs One way

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your accommodation and start your day with a visit to Tashichhodzong, a spiritual sanctuary that also serves as Bhutan's main secretariat building and the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot). This grand fortress-monastery, nestled along the banks of the Wang Chhu River, is not just a significant political landmark but also a place of deep spiritual connection, housing the throne room and offices of the King. Continue your cultural exploration with a visit to the National Library, a treasure trove of ancient Buddhist manuscripts and sacred texts, followed by the Institute of Traditional Medicine (Indigenous Hospital), where Bhutan's centuries-old healing practices are still in use today. These institutions are not just places of learning, but also symbols of Bhutan's rich cultural heritage. Next, explore the Zorig Chusum Art School, also known as the Painting School, where young artists train in Bhutan's 13 traditional arts, including woodcarving, painting, and embroidery.

Thereafter, visit the iconic Memorial Chorten, a revered white stupa built in 1974 to honor King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the third King of Bhutan. This landmark is a hub of spiritual activity, where locals gather to offer prayers and circumambulate the stupa. Continue your cultural immersion at the Handicrafts Emporium, a treasure trove of exquisite hand-woven textiles and traditional Bhutanese crafts, where you can witness local artisans at work and even try your hand at some of the crafts. This is followed by a Textile and Folk Heritage Museum tour, which offers fascinating insights into Bhutan's rich weaving traditions and rural lifestyle.

Later in the afternoon, we will make an excursion to  Dochula Pass (10,500 ft). The 125 chortens at the pass, built in honor of Bhutanese soldiers, create a stunning sight against the backdrop of the towering eastern Himalayan peaks. Take a short walk around the pass to admire the 360-degree panoramic views of snow-clad mountains before continuing the drive through the pristine valleys and forests of Bhutan. After the visit, we will drive back to Thimphu. Rest of the evening at leisure. Free for your own activities.

Day 03 :
Thimphu- Paro (Approx 70 Kms 2.5 Hrs) by drive

Drive: Thimphu- Taktsang Base Approx 70 Kms 2.5 Hrs
Trek: Base to Tiger Nest Monastery Approx 7 Kms approx 6-7 Hrs (Round Trip)

Today, prepare for one of the most unforgettable experiences of your Bhutan journey—a hike to the Taktsang Monastery, famously known as Tiger's Nest. Perched dramatically on a cliffside at 10,232 feet (3,120 meters), this sacred monastery sits 900 meters (2,952 feet) above the Paro Valley floor. It is not just Bhutan's most iconic landmark but also a place of profound spiritual significance, revered as a pilgrimage site where the spirit of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) is believed to reside.

After an early breakfast, drive to the trailhead and begin the two to three-hour uphill hike through a scenic pine forest. The well-maintained trail, which is of moderate difficulty, winds through switchbacks, offering breathtaking views of Paro Valley below. Along the way, prayer flags flutter in the mountain breeze, adding to the spiritual ambiance of the journey. A midway viewpoint with a café provides a spectacular panoramic view of the monastery clinging to the cliffside—a perfect spot to rest and take in the scenery before continuing the ascent.

Upon reaching the monastery, explore its various temples, shrines, and meditation caves. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, flew to this site on the back of a tigress in the 8th century to subdue evil spirits and meditate in a cave, thus introducing Buddhism to Bhutan. The monastery houses ancient relics, golden statues, and stunning murals depicting Buddhist deities and stories. Soak in the mystical atmosphere before beginning the descent back to the base. Evening we will have time to Explore Paro town, stroll in local market.

Day 04 :
Departure from the Kingdom of Bhutan – Farewell to the Land of Happiness

As your extraordinary journey through the unique Kingdom of Bhutan draws to a close, start your day with a leisurely breakfast, reminiscing about the exclusive experiences you've had-from the awe-inspiring landscapes to the immersive cultural encounters and the heartwarming hospitality. Depending on your flight schedule, you might have time for a final stroll in the charming Paro town, where you can collect a few more of those special souvenirs or simply bask in the serene ambiance of the valley.

At the designated time, our representative will escort you to Paro International Airport (7,218 ft) for your onward journey. As you drive through the valley one last time, take in the stunning views of Bhutan's pristine mountains, traditional farmhouses, and fluttering prayer flags—a final reminder of this enchanting Himalayan kingdom.
