The Yamunotri Temple features an impressive black marble statue of Goddess Yamuna. Jankichatti, known for its sacred hot springs, allows pilgrims to cleanse themselves before offering prayers. At Surya Kund, a thermal spring, devotees prepare rice or potatoes by cooking them in the hot water and then offering the cooked food as Prasad. Gangotri, often referred to as the Abode of Goddess Ganga, is a tranquil town situated along the Bhagirathi River at an altitude of 3,048 meters. It is one of Uttarakhand’s Char Dham and is home to the highest temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Built by General Amar Singh Thapa, the Gangotri Temple houses revered idols of Goddess Ganga, along with those of Goddess Yamuna, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Parvati, and Annapurna. The Natural Shivling, a submerged rock formation, is believed to be the site where Lord Shiva welcomed Ganga into his locks, causing its water levels to drop. Nearby, the Gaumukh Glacier marks the origin of the Bhagirathi River, which can be reached on foot. Day 01 :

Dehradun to Barkot by drive 160 kms approx 4-5 Hrs | Altitude : 4003 Feet

Today morning met and received by The Travel Foot representative/driver at the pickup location and thereafter we began our journey in Dehradun. The drive to Barkot is approximately 160 kilometers and typically takes around 4-5 hours, depending on traffic and your selected route. Along the way, consider stopping at notable landmarks such as the Prakasheshwar Temple in Dehradun and the stunning Kempty Falls in Mussoorie. If your schedule allows, take a moment to appreciate the beauty of Kempty Falls. However, keep in mind that Mussoorie can become quite congested during peak season, which might necessitate a detour through Vikas Nagar. If you need to skip Kempty Falls on the way, you can always plan to visit on your return trip. Once you arrive in Barkot, check into your hotel and take some time to relax and recharge. Situated at an elevation of 4,003 feet, Barkot offers tranquil and scenic surroundings, making it an ideal spot for pilgrims embarking on their journey to Yamunotri.

Day 02 :

Barkot to Yamunotri and Return to Barkot (Approx. 36 km drive + 6 km trek each way | Altitude: 10,797 feet)

Today we start after early breakfast at the hotel, we proceed with our drive from Barkot to Janki Chatti, passing through Hanuman Chatti and Phool Chatti, covering approximately 36 kilometers. Once you arrive at Janki Chatti, a 6-kilometer trek awaits you to reach Yamunotri. Pilgrims can choose to walk on foot or hire horses or Dolis at their own expense for this part of the journey. During your visit, explore the revered Yamunotri Temple, originally constructed in the 19th century by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur and restored multiple times since then. Observe the sacred rituals at Surya Kund, a natural hot spring where devotees boil rice in cloth bundles, which are later taken home as blessed offerings. You can also soak in the therapeutic waters of Jamunabai Kund, a sacred bathing spot, and pay homage to Divya Shila, a venerated rock pillar traditionally worshipped before entering the temple. After experiencing the spiritual atmosphere of the Yamunotri Temple and taking in the breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscape, retrace your steps back. Then, head back to Barkot for an overnight stay.

Day 03 :

Barkot to Uttarkashi (Approx. 80 km | 4 hours | Altitude:3882 feet )

After enjoying a satisfying morning meal at the hotel, we will embark on our journey from Barkot to Uttarkashi at approximately 10 AM. The drive typically lasts around 4 hours, providing a chance to unwind after what may have been an exhausting trek to Yamunotri the day before. The route to Uttarkashi offers picturesque views, with most of the journey through hilly landscapes, so it's advisable to prepare for a lengthy trip. Upon arriving in Uttarkashi, located alongside the Bhagirathi River, our first stop will be the Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is well-known for its prominent iron trident and is considered a significant religious site in Uttarkashi. There are also other important temples nearby, including the Ekadash Rudra Temple, Bhairav Temple, and Goddess Kuteti Devi Temple. After visiting the Vishwanath Temple, we will head to the hotel to relax and unwind. You can take it easy in the evening, allowing yourself to recover from the journey. If time permits, today's itinerary may also include visits to Shiv Gufa, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, and the Shakti Temple, or to explore other surrounding areas. The focus of the day is on relaxation and spiritual renewal, with opportunities for gentle exploration of Uttarkashi's rich spiritual traditions.

Day 04 :

Uttarkashi to Ganganani to Gangotri and Return to Uttarkashi (Approx. 100 km | 6-7 hours)

Today we will begin our journey departing from Uttarkashi and heading towards Gangotri. On our way, we will make a stop at Tapt Kund, where we can enjoy the warmth of a natural hot spring, surrounded by the stunning Himalayan landscape. Upon our arrival in Gangotri, we will visit the revered Gangotri Temple, a holy shrine dedicated to the worship of Goddess Ganga. This temple was constructed in the 18th century by Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa and is located next to the sacred Shivling rock, which is partially submerged in the river. This rock is believed to be the site where Lord Shiva welcomed Ganga into his matted hair. It is most clearly visible during the winter months when the river's water level recedes. According to legend, the Pandava brothers performed a grand ritual known as the Deva Yagna at this very spot, seeking redemption for their past transgressions after the epic Mahabharata war. The temple, built from white granite, stands at an impressive 20 feet and holds profound spiritual and architectural significance. Later, we will explore the Kedar Ganga Sangam, the meeting point of the Kedar Ganga River and the Bhagirathi River, located near the Gangotri Temple. This setting is tranquil and revered. On our return journey, we will stop at Gangnani, known for its natural hot spring, where you can refresh yourself with a soak in Rishikund. Nearby is the Temple of Sage Parashar, revered as the father of the legendary Ved Vyas. At Gangotri, visitors can participate in sacred ceremonies at the exclusive Gangotri Ghat, followed by worship and prayer services. Other attractions include the revered Bhagirath Shila, the Gauri Ganesha Temple, and Surya Kund, where devotees offer their prayers. We will also stop at the Gupteshwar Mahadev Temple in Dharali to learn about the rich cultural heritage of the local Tibetan population. Once we complete these ceremonies, we will return to Uttarkashi for the night. Today’s potential sightseeing options include visiting the Gangnani Kund, exploring the Gangotri Temple, viewing the Bhagirath Shila, visiting the Gauri Ganesha Temple, and exploring the Gupteshwar Mahadev Temple. This journey offers a unique fusion of natural beauty and cultural richness, immersing you in the sacred essence of Gangotri and its breathtaking surroundings.

Day 05 :

Uttarkashi to Rishikesh (Approx. 170 km | 6-7 hours)

Starting an early departure, we will enjoy the breathtaking sights of Tehri Lake along the route. Rishikesh, a sacred town located on the banks of the Ganga River, is surrounded by the Shivalik mountain range of the Himalayas. According to legend, the sage Raibhya Rishi performed intense meditation in this area, which led to the manifestation of the deity Rishikesh before him, giving the town its name. Upon our arrival in Rishikesh, we will drop you at your hotel or at Natraj Chowk, on your own you can visit some of the city's most famous landmarks, including Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula, two suspension bridges that offer stunning views of the Ganges River and its picturesque surroundings. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to visit several ghats, highlighting Rishikesh's status as a sacred hub, second only to Varanasi in spiritual significance. Rishikesh is known as the global center for yoga, attracting individuals from around the world who seek spiritual enlightenment. If you didn’t have the chance to witness the Ganga Aarti earlier in your journey, you can participate in the evening Ganga Aarti in Rishikesh, which usually begins at 6 PM during the summer and at 5:15 PM during the winter. After the aarti ceremony or further exploration of Rishikesh, you can spend the evening soaking up the city's spiritual ambiance, visiting local attractions, and browsing shops for mementos to commemorate your visit.

During emergencies, such as natural disasters, our operational partners will provide assistance on the ground to ensure safety and address immediate needs. However, the expenses for such emergency actions will fall solely on the customer.

Please be aware that the trekking and driving times listed in the itinerary are approximate and may vary due to breaks for food and photos, road or weather conditions, or other unforeseen factors.
